Our Staff

The Children's Place staff is what makes our program unique and special. With a low child/teacher ratio and a staff comprised of dedicated, loving educators who are carefully selected based on their Early Childhood Education background, teaching experience, and sensitivity to the needs of young children and their families our staff provides an safe, loving environment for children to foster their love of learning in a play-based environment.

Kati is very excited to be guiding the vibrant child-centered preschool program that lives at The Children’s Place, building on the strong play-based foundation that was established by Lisa Rinaldi.  A firm believer of play as the natural way of learning for young children, she is working to expand the current program by creating and incorporating a play-based science and discovery program based on the interests of the TCP children, her own experiences and expertise, as well as the latest developments in child development and neuroscience to nurture and develop children’s innate creativity.

She has developed a Spanish class introducing the Spanish language and the Mexican culture. She currently lives in Menlo Park with her husband, her ten month old baby and dog, Tazz. She loves to read, paint, make crafts, and think of fun lessons she can do with the children together that will help them grow. Her favorite subject is to teach Spanish. She spends her free time with her family but most of all loves being a mommy to her son, Bennie.

Teacher Maria

Two Year Old Teacher

Teacher Maria’s students call her “teacher Mia” or “teacher Rea.” She is from Colombia. She graduated from The American College of Early Childhood Education with the title of preschool teacher. She has been a teacher at The Children’s Place since 2007. Since then, her time here has been full of enjoyment and learning. She loves to make her students feel welcomed, after all TCP is their second home. Hugs and kisses, songs and dances are her mottos for teaching and learning.

She was part of a choir back when she was in high school: music has always been part of her life. Therefore, she uses songs as her way of teaching. You will soon hear your child at home singing the vowels, the days of the week and even “head and shoulders, knees and toes” in Spanish, as these are just some of the songs she uses to teach.

She enjoys sharing her language and her culture, but most of all she loves being part of the transition from home to their first school experience. She understands the challenges of potty training and feeling home sick, a new environment, and new experiences.
