Hours
The Children's Place offers full day programs for children 2 years (must turn 2 by Dec 1st)
through Pre-Kindergarten. Your child may attend 2, 3, 4, or 5 days a week. Though we do not
have a half day program your child is welcome to attend as many hours as you prefer during our
operating hours. The tuition, however, remains the same. For an added per-occasion fee,
part-time children may attend an additional day
if space is available on the chosen day.
The Children's Place is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00
p.m. Visitors are always welcome. Since the entire staff is often playing with the children, we suggest you call prior to arriving so that we may be sure there is someone available to speak with you.
We are open year-round. We are closed on the following holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve, Christmas day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's birthday, President's Day, Good Friday, and Independence Day. Depending on what day Christmas, New Year's and Independence day fall on, we may be closed additional days.
The staff begins arriving at 7:00 a.m. and continues arriving at half-hour
intervals until 9:00 a.m. Each staff member is scheduled a one hour lunch break
toward the middle of their workday. Except for one part-time employee who
leaves at 2:00 p.m., the staff begins leaving at 4:00 p.m. and continues at
half-hour intervals until 6:00 p.m.
Basic Operation Information
The Children's Place shares Mahany Hall with the church. We have a variety
of indoor play equipment such as hoops, balls, blocks, hippity hops, books,
and art projects for the children to play with. Because this area is shared,
we may not be able to gain access on all rainy days; however, it is a wonderful
play space alternative for the children.
Toys are sprayed daily with disinfectant and cleaned more thoroughly on
a weekly basis.
The staff has a staff meeting one day a month, usually scheduled on the
school's lightest day, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Substitutes are hired or
parents volunteer to be with the children during these times.
Our substitutes are recruited in a variety of ways. We have our own
substitute list from which we pull teachers and we use a temporary care
agency that supplies teachers when our substitutes are not available.
In-service days are usually scheduled during our regular staff meetings.
In July or August, the staff participates in more in-depth in-service such
as CPR/First Aide and curriculum planning. Substitutes are hired to work
with the children during this time. When scheduling permits, the staff also
attends early childhood classes and conventions.
